Listen to episode 18

In this episode we look at the phenomenon of the School / Public Library collaboration. What does it look like? Why is it so rare?

We talk to two librarians who work in two very different school/public libraries: Kay Heiting, Library Director for the Granton Community Library & Library Media Specialist for the Granton and Loyal Area School District, and Bobbie Kuehn, Branch Manager of the Brown County Public Library, East and Denmark locations. Both of these libraries are in small Wisconsin villages and made similar choices about how to best serve their residents. They moved their library’s out of shared village hall spaces and into public school buildings. These became two of the eight “collocated” school and public libraries in Wisconsin.
